Hike: The Leona Canyon Trail (1.4 mile from end to end, .8 to Artesemia and Pyrite) In and Out - with Artesemia (.7 mile from start to end one way) or Pyrite (.8 mile from start to end).
Length of hike: ~ 3.0 Miles
The trail is a wide dirt road that descends slightly through an open, sunny area before entering the woods. Good-sized oaks and a dense understory; in places the canopy that covers the trail, in other places the trail is open to the sky. No sign of civilization anywhere!
Follow the trail along Rifle Range Creek, a wide, wooded fire road. Popular dog walking spot.
Artemisia Trail: Uphill trail with great views of the bay and the wooded canyon.
Pyrite Trail: Old oak trees provide a canopy of shade and make for a peaceful place to hike.
